Synopsis[]
The PresAux crew travels to another base seeking answers. Murderbot becomes involved in a conflict between SecUnits.
Plot Summary[]
Preservation Alliance prepares to travel to the nearby lab facility. Before departure, Mensah encourages Murderbot to lower his helmet, indicating he is part of the team.
While on the transport ship, Murderbot continues watching his sci-fi soap operas and reacts with irritation when members of the group, including Ratthi, attempt to engage him in conversation.
At the Preservation Auxiliary habitat, Professor Bharadwaj continues to recover from her injuries but remains affected by the trauma of earlier events. Gurathin offers her behavior-modifying modules to assist in coping, but she declines. Meanwhile, Murderbot observes Gurathin entering Mensah’s room and smelling her pillow.
The team discovers that Murderbot has accessed their personal logs. Mensah confronts him to determine whether he poses any threat. Murderbot does not immediately respond, causing concern.
Upon arrival at the destroyed DeltFall habitat, the group lands near a lake and proceeds cautiously. Murderbot leads the entry into the structure due to his superior combat capabilities. Inside, he locates the damaged SecUnit previously seen at the end of Episode 2. Continuing his investigation, Murderbot finds the DeltFall team deceased.
Mensah attempts to call Murderbot back, but radio interference disrupts the signal. This interference is later revealed to have been caused by Murderbot, who is not yet ready to exit the site. He discovers that one of the SecUnits has been hijacked and used to kill the others. Murderbot disables this rogue unit.
While inspecting the disabled SecUnit’s body, Murderbot concludes that external control had been exerted over it. Shortly after, another bot enters the room and opens fire on him.
