GoodNightLander Independent (GI) is a corporation that petitions to reclaim an abandoned GrayCris 'terraforming' facility outside of the Corporation Rim. It sends a team to assess the facility, which is rescued by Murderbot when it comes under attack.
The team travels in a local space exploration/transit vehicle. It has no drive to travel via wormhole, so it had to have been ferried over in the cargo module of a larger transport or towed via a dedicated supply hauler. The vehicle is in good condition--better than the Company would have offered. It is notable for having little to no surveilance capability over the crew, at least when compared to Corporation Rim counterparts.
The differences to the Corporation Rim don't stop here; Miki, although owned by Don Abene, is nonetheless allowed to sit and socialize with the crew, rather than be forced to travel in storage like SecUnits are. The treatment of the bot is similar to that found in the Preservation Alliance, which is also outside the Corporation Rim.
The use of SecUnits is illegal in GI's homesystems, and when GI reaches out later to hire 'Rin' (Murderbot's alias), they address it to the fictional Consultant Rin that was supposedly its handler.

The group GI sends to Milu is made of long-time employees who've all worked together before, including four researchers, two shuttle crew, and one human-form bot. The group's members are:

GI also hires security consultants, but these are intercepted (and likely killed) en route by Wilken and Gerth, two GrayCris agents sent to sabotage the station and ensure its destruction.
