Synopsis[]
While an enemy targets Murderbot, an ally plans their escape. The team deals with leadership changes and a dire ultimatum.
Plot Summary[]
A flashback shows the Corporation Rim at the Threshold Pass Fabrication Center, where SecUnits are manufactured. The process is shown to be highly demanding on human workers, who are overworked and prone to errors in the production line.
In the present, Murderbot is dragged down a hallway by an unidentified attacker and placed on a table. While waiting for an opportunity, Murderbot begins singing the Sanctuary Moon theme. It attempts to fight off the attacker but is unable to prevent a Combat Override Module from being activated and locked in place.
Dr. Mensah arrives with a mining drill and disables the attacker. Murderbot, injured and fading in and out of consciousness, experiences hallucinations resembling scenes from Sanctuary Moon while moving through the hallways.
Back on the ship, tensions rise when the group learns that Mensah had previously ordered Pin-Lee back onto the transport. Ratthi arms himself and heads out, followed by the rest of the team, in an effort to assist. Ratthi accidentally injures himself and is unable to contribute effectively. Meanwhile, Pin-Lee pilots the ship and successfully crushes the robot attacker.
Despite the victory, the Combat Override Module in Murderbot remains active and poses a threat to the team. To prevent harm to the others, Murderbot decides to shoot itself in an attempt to neutralize the threat.
