“There’s something you’re not telling me and it’s scaring me! I’m not a fucking hero like my second mom or a genius like everybody else in my family, I’m just ordinary, and you’re all I’ve got!” (Network Effect, Chapter 6)
Amena is Dr. Ayda Mensah’s oldest offspring, and is a young adult at the start of Network Effect. She is participating in a PreservationAux survey “because her education requires an internship in almost getting killed,” according to Murderbot.
Amena resents the fact that Mensah (her second mom) asked Murderbot specifically to watch out for her during the survey mission. She also resents Murderbot for interfering in a personal relationship back on the Preservation home world, in part because she incorrectly believes that Murderbot informed Mensah about the relationship.
Despite this rough start to their interactions, Amena rapidly shows that she depends on Murderbot and is dependable in turn. She is especially helpful in mediating between Murderbot and ART when they have a falling out.
Physical Appearance[]
Her hair is long enough that is able to be tied back, and she is slightly shorter than Iris.[1]
The standard PreservationAux survey uniform is grey, and occasionally includes a jacket.
Official Art[]
Murderbot and Amena's abduction near the start of Network Effect was illustrated in the Subterranean rereleased version.
